well its pretty easy all you do is pull your lower airbox out, you know its the part that holes your air filters, well you just hack off all of the lower part, that is under the filters, all that you really need is just the part that holds the filter there.

My firebird is an 89 so my air box where the filter goes is metal. I just drilled some holes and then cut out squares with a jig-saw. All you really need to do is allow more air to enter the air box.

Wouldn't it be better to cut out the sides of the airbox? What about water spashing up into the intake? I guess if you don't drive your car in the rain or it dosn't rain alot where your at i guess cutting the bottom out is ok. But when it rains here man it RAINS so i just cut out some of the side material. My 2 cents worth

No its really not a big deal, I've been is some real bad rain storms in tampa, florida remember we get mad hurricanes down here, not recently but I've had this mod for about 3 to 4 years, and drove in to many rainstorms, and never had a prob, but I also have my fliters still in. Now if you don't have your air fliters in thats when your going to get small animals, water, dirt and all that good stuff in there. As long as you don't drive through small lakes and rivers
you really don't have anything to worry about. This is truely a horse power adder, and a must do for anyone wanting better track times.

Yeah stay out of the low water crossings if you cut the entire bottom off. I locked up an engine trying to drive home in a storm one night cause it sucked a sheet load of water straight into the engine. The water wasn't even that high, but it still got sucked like a foot up into the air box! Your engine will suck water right through an air filter, especially a K&N style.
After that, all I'm gonna do is cut holes in the sides cause you never know what situation you may find yourself in.
