upgrading (i guess) to TPI

i have a fairly good idea on how to swap a TPI system onto my 87 Z28 LG4 305

i'm a little hesitant though because i dont know if its "right" for me

i was told by some people that they can actually limit power

and as of right now, my 305 is fairly quick (for a 305 ) (ran a 14.8)

so i would kinda hate to be taking a step backwards and lose performance if i added TPI

whats your thoughts on this?

as for the swap i would need the following:

base manifold
plenum
runners
02 sensor
cooling temp sensor
MAT sensor
MAP sensor
IAT sensor
air filter housing
ECM
harness
throttle body
IAC
TPS
throttle cable
knock sensor
CC-advance distributor (already have one)

is there anybody here who has done the swap...........
what am i missing...........
how much am i gonna spend...........(about $1000)

also, i'm kinda shady on the idea that i will need to reprogram a PROM when i add a major performance piece (heads, cam, etc.)

i understand why and how its done, but i'm not the smartest person with that stuff

well, lemme just ask, how major of a PROM change would i need for vortec heads (yes, i know i need the special manifold from scoggin-dickie) and a comp cams 268 cam...................

thanx in advance

You won't limit power with the 305. You will gain a TON of torque though, which is driveability. $1000 sounds good if you shop for used parts. Don't worry about a PROM until yours doesn't work. You won't need one for heads anyway.
