delayed starting ?
Hey guys,
I just had my engine rebuilt and a bunch of parts replaced (alternator, battery etc.) and my car sometimes takes a while to start. like a couple of seconds and it just bothers me because I thought with a rebuilt engine it would fire right up almost like a brand new car...
any ideas? It has new plug wires, plugs, fuel filter, air filter, coolant flush, trans. flush, O2 FULL tuneup.
would an aftermarket starter with heat shield cure this?
could it be the stock coil in my car? ideas? TPS? IAC????
thanks guys

Is your IAC original? or new?
Clean it out if its the original one, and make sure you reset your TPS/IAC.
Otherwise think of all the parts that AREN'T new, and how they could be effecting your start up.
I serously doubt its your starter unless its cranking slow.

Did you change your fuel pressure setting? Sometimes the stock injectors will stick open causing a cylinder to fill with fuel after the car is shut off. You go to start it and it has to burn all the fuel out before it starts.
How do I know? Mine did it

You might possibly be able to burn a chip to correct it as well.
The "ARAP" bin is notorious for this, the "crank Fuel PW multiplier vs ref. pulse" has the first 8 cells empty, yesterday I filled in 4 of the 8 and as expected cut my crank time in half, worked beautifull.

Mine cranked a while before firing too. I increased the cold start enrichment & it cured it.

My Trans Am starts rough like yours, but it feels like it isn't getting enough fuel. If I crank it, and it doesn't start, and then I turn the key off, and then crank it again, it will fire right up immediatly the second time. I'd like to hear how you fix this. I wondered if my fuel pump was gettin weak, or if the fuel pressure regulator is bad. It got new injectors last summer and ran, and started fine until recently. Now I also get terrible gas mileage! Any suggestions. Thanks
