Hey guys,
I just picked up a mint 87 Iroc LB9.
This is my first TPI car. Obviously it's not gonna be real fast, but I would like to get a little more out of it. It has K&Ns, but is that all you can do with these air intakes? It seems pretty restrictive.
I'm thinking a catback and some headers would be in order. And it feels like it could use some gears bad.
Anyway, you guys Know these cars a lot better than I do, so any input is welcome. Such as chips, pullies, ignition etc.
Oh I'm also planning on getting a higher stall.

To start with some easy things yes a full headers back exhaust is going to open that car up nicely. You really need to know a bit about cars before you start tuning your own proms. As far a the intake, the black holder for the air filters can come out and you can cut the bottom out of it that is a good start for "free mods" The next thing you can do is run dryer duct from behind the fog lamps up to the air filters for "ram air" but that will only really help when on the highway or a lot of air is being forced in. Another "free" or close to it is porting the plenum. The egr walls behind the throttle body are semi restrictive so knock those down and it will help air flow as well.
An easy mod is an AFPR (adjustable fuel pressure regulator) you can either make one of Holley makes one with the easiest tune ability (I think) out of all of the aftermarket ones. You can throw pullies at it if you like but the wont net you a whole lot they are one of those mods that combined with a ton of others it will do something. Doing a nice tune-up with good plugs, wires, cap and rotor would be the best place to start. Then you can put a good coil in there as well to help the spark out a little. Those are a few things that I can rattle off the top of my head. Also please look at the main page under Technical Articles and you can find out things there to do.

Thanks guys,
After driving it a bit, I'm definately gonna do full exhaust, gears, stall, and hack up the air box. This car will be one of my daily drivers, so I don't want to get too carried away like I did with my 94. But it sure is nice to have another project!
