What will I need to do to the 305 TPI to run with a 350 TPI

Hey

I have the 305 TPI and I like it. I think its a good motor and it moves pretty good. I just want to get more power. I want a car that will out run a 350 TPI. What kind mods do u think I should do. If I get a cam what kinda cam should I get.

The mods I have planned are:
- Hooker headers
- Hooker catback exhaust
- High flow cat (if needed for the exhaust)
- K&N Filters
- AFPR
- Airfoil
- Transgo shift kit
- Corvette servo
- SFC and STB

I think that I will be able to out run a 350 TPI with those mods. I just want to know what I will need to smoke a 350 TPI...
Thanks alot

You'll be needing a 100+hp shot of NOS to beat most warmed-over 350 3rd gens.

Probably not what you wanted to hear, but it's coming from a guy who tweaked/tuned and modded a 305 for years before breaking down and going 355ci.

Focus on pounding the 5.0L and 4.6L Mustang crowd. Definitely within reach of a 305 with the mods you listed if you add software tuning as documented in the DIY_PROM forum.

In my sig are the mods that I did and it will run pretty well with most 350's.

It'll be rough to keep up with modded 350s w/o doing heads/cam, but full exhaust, traction mods, and a chip(basically everything but the AFPR and airfoil you mentioned) should put you in the mid to low 14's if your car runs in good tune and hooks alright.

FYI, stock 350s and vettes, generally run between 13.8-14.8 with minor mods(exhaust/headers).

I ran a best of 14.4 @96.8mph on stock heads everything thing else modded(14.6 @96 with only exhaust/chip), but hope to drop that down a lot with my new found traction, I'll definately post the time if I get a 13.9.
