You would think so, But why Does it Run Fine ?

OIl pressure switch keeping it Running when the relay conks out
?

Car takes a bit of cranking when "cold" to get started, maybe the relay isnt workig right and its waiting for the oil pressure switch to energize the pump ?

so it needs oil pressure to build while cranking, wich takes a while ?

replace the relay, it's about $12.

If it isn't the relay that was the problem, you're only out $12.

"Code 54... where are you!?"

Ok... sorry. Anyway, judging by your description, I'd also agree that the relay is shot. The oil pressure switch is powering the fuel pump when the relay is shot.

Code 54 problem that I had was not cured by replacing the relay. I put in a new ecm and it fixed it.

I also had a hard stearting problem which I thought would get better when the code 54 was cleared up but it didn't. I had to replace injectors and it now runs like a top.

I found out the hard way that you can't power a heated 02 sensor with the green wire from the fuel pump plug. That's the signal wire from the ECM.

Goddamned electrical engineer and I manage to screw up a 2 wire installation.
