Hypertech Fan Switch?
Hypertech Fan Switch?
I am thinking about getting the fan switch that Hypertech makes for my 88' Firebird Formula 350. I would like to know if anybody uses one and if they care for it.

I have the Hyprtech fan switch and I love it ! I replaced both fan motors , put in a 160 degree thermostat , replaced the radiator cap and it still ran hot as hell . Especially with the A.C. off because the second fan would not come on at all without the A.C. on . It never really overheated but the temp. was way up so much that it would bring my oil pressure way down to dangerously low , I guess from it being so hot it would thin the oil out . I have had no problem since putting the fan switch on . A lot of people just wire up a switch they can turn on any time they want the fans to come on . I just prefered the Hypertech switch because I am not much on rigging up wires and stuff on my car (besides the lack of knowledge in this area). It comes in two temperature ranges and since I live in Florida I got the one that kicks the fans on the soonest . I also run straight Valvoline 50 wieght racing oil . BTW , GM designed it this way because it burns up all of the fuel leaving less emissions but it also destroys performance and engines ! There is a lot of info on this on all of the third and forth gen boards , just do a search and you will find out everything you need to know. Hypertech fan switch
