bad cold start after new injectors
bad cold start after new injectors
Since I got my car, it would always have a perfect cold start (less than 1-2 cranks) but the hot start sucked. It would alway flood itself when I tried to start it after a few minutes. This lead me to believe my injectors were leaking.
I replaced them with a new set of ford SVO 24# injectors and the car starts hot well now and runs noticably better but now takes a good 30 seconds of cranking to initially start when cold.
Could it be my cold start injector never worked to begin with? What is the easiest way to diagnose whether it is the injector, harness, or temp sensor? I have an '87 ECM and harness on an '88 engine

Yeah I would like to do that but I have a TPIs prom custom burnt to my cam profile. Dont really feel like sending it back to them right now. Though going 1989 style would be a better solution, right now I'm only interested in diagnosing and solving the problem with the cold start system.

I replaced my injectors due to leakage. It also started on the first crank before. Now it takes me about 1.5-2 seconds of cranking before it fires. I can't find anything wrong either. I just decided to live with it. 30 seconds though is a problem.
Anyone want to help us out?

Do you have a stock chip?, I'm not fond of anything thats aftermarket.
If you could throw a stock chip in and try that I would definatly do it. That may be most of the problem. I don't know what TPIS does to their chips but anything is possible. I would rule that out as a possibility first. I'm sure that there is a way to test the cold start, I don't know what it should Ohm though.
