Autism & F-Bodys (Both Confusing)

Well after a year I finnally Got the gta back on jack stands and started putting on parts I bought a year ago.
This is not a tech question but simply a father of a 3 year old boy that has been diagnoised Autisic. The fact that us fathers with children with delays or otherwise need something else to do other than constantly worrie about the future of our kids is without a doubt a must. I have been working to revive my car for about 3 years now. And after what happened to my son it completely kicked my feet out from under me.
My only suggestion to all that belongs is think about the bottom line as far as cost is concerned. 2000.00 superchargers are and will not ever be in my future, 140.00 panhard rods seem out of the picture and only what I have will be what I will probley have.
My best years of my life was spent behind the wheels of Trans Ams, I have had three. The fact that my son may never be able to even drive a car is sometimes overwhelming.
At 145.00 dollars a hour for theripy it dosn't take long to end up covering the gta back up and waiting again. Some may think we are all crazy for doing to these cars what we do but it does keep us from going insane.
Keep up the good fight with the Mustangs and always remember they may be lighter and smaller but if I can teach my son to say "Go" then I thing we can make these cars what PMD always thought they should be.
Thanks for listening and for your time.
I hope someday that Alex will be able to take me for a ride.
aj87gta is my way of keeping up the hope, my old name was kk87gta

It's sad to here your story, but I wish you good luck in the future with your son. I can't say I know much about autism.

Take care,

Tom

My girlfriend works as a speech therapist for children with autism through her school. I have been to visit her and to play with the kids, which is fun. She gets just as fustrated with the children as the parents do sometimes, but when she clicks with them the feeling can't be beat. Good luck and I hope for the best.

Sorry to hear about your son. Just remember, anything is possible through prayers.

Even if it is only a few dollars at a time, keep working on the car. It will be good therapy for you.

good luck.

Back in high school there was an autistic kid, he'd run through the halls ignoring everyone (making fun of him for running) well I dont think most knew he was autistic. But he never talked to anyone (obviously)

....anyway, I have been out of school for 2 years and I was in the food store the other day, and guess who was behind the register talking and greeting people like any non-autistic person.

My point is, keep up hope, and also, do whatever you can to the car.

hey aj87gta

I have a son that has down syndrome, so I can somewhat relate to you, but in my case he was adopted, I still have visitation thou.
I wish you the best of luck.
and we all need hopes/dreams to keep us going.
my 85 Iroc sat for a year after the computer shorted out & then 3 days after I got that fixed I broke a pushrod & the motor pretty well died, but now I have a new 350 & tranny
so see things can happen.

I can relate to autism as I have a 6 year old nephew who is autistic. He has it on the mild side, but also has a very strict diet (he's allergic to over 150 foods). He has had so many visits to the doctors, therapists, classes, etc. since he was about 1yr old. He's actually improving as he gets older, so keep up the hope that your son will advance as time passes. Just remember that there is a little kid in there no matter how hard he is to take...They just need a little more love than most of us do
