will changing the Fuel Tank Meter Sender/Connector fix a jumpy gauge?

i have to put a new fuel pump in my 89 iroc L98 and was wondering if putting in a new Fuel Tank Meter Sender/Connector
would fix the problem? i am using ac delco parts.

thanks

No it wont. All Fbodies I've been in do the same thing when you break, turn or accelerate hard. It's not the parts themselves it's the design of the whole assembly including the tank.

Check the guage connection where the guage plugs into the instrument cluster. Also if you pull the cluster and flip it over there are some clips there that the guage plugs into, these clips just sit against the circut card for connection and get junk built up between them and the copper traces.

well im not so sure it is the fuel pump, because i did the flow test , of wich in 15 seconds, it is to flow 1\2 pint, that is equall to 1 pint in 30 seconds, i got 1 pint in 22 seconds. i think that is to much. and also, i put a press. gauge on it and the pressure will slowly rise to about 4 psi and then fall, when i manually turn on the fuel pump.
so could it be the press. regulator?
i am going to start a new thread on this.

thanks keep the help coming

Almost all Thirdgens have the fuel gauge jumping problem in turns, acceleration and braking don’t worry about it. The only thirdgens that don't are 1LE's. My bro's 1LE came with a special fuel tank that holds the fuel near the pump in turns acceleration, and breaking. Also the fuel gauge doesn’t jump.
