Im guessing the difference in the heads dont allow you to bolt them up but thats only a guess. The reason being is the TPI headers are chrome plated and the TBI headers are black. Yeah which ones would you want? Anyway does any one know why they say they dont fit?

Guess I should post this in the engine tech threads too.

They'd fit the heads just fine, but I'm guessing they don't have the heat stove for the air cleaner and the Y pipe (if included) won't fit the converter. The TBI Y pipe necks down to 2.25" at the cat. You should be able to make them work though with a little creativity. TBI headers are a waste of money. I know, I have a set. I had to cut the Y pipe and weld in a 3" 45 degree pipe to get them to flow and fit into my home made 3" cat.

Steve B is right. Small block chevy heads are identical for the most part. Any header will bolt up. The difference between TBI headers and TPI headers is the y-pipe outlet and the heat stove. The TBI headers are made for the TBI's small stock exhaust.

This is totally correct. A buddy of mine gave me a set of brand new in the box TES headers that were for an 85 305 TBI Camaro. I cut the heat stove off and bolted them right up to my 89 TPI 350. I had the exhaust shop make me a new y-pipe.

I have the 305 tbi and I used the headers for the 350 tpi and the cat and cat back are also for the tpi. It is all 3" and works great.

The tpi headers are cheaper too.
