CAI questions
I've seen a lot of articles about how to make your own cold air intake system, but the most they say is that it "pulls harder" at "extreme speeds."
Can anyone quantify (or even guesstimate) the gain/loss of a "move the batter and stick a K&N cone filter there" type of air intake? Some say it works a lot better, some say it hurts because of the extra twists and less-direct flow into the engine.
Thanks!

On a TPI Camaro, you are better off making a ram air setup with the stock airbox.
The home made CAI's behind the lights are only needed by Firebirds and Camaros that weren't originally TPI cars and don't have all the intake ducting in the nose.

Depends how you make it, if you go buy Dryer hose and some PVC pipe, maybe a lil duct tape like some people. It will be almost exactly the same as stock. and depending on where the filter is, it wont be a "Cold Air" induction, you need something to block the Engine heat.
Mine pictured below will let the engine breather alot free'er its 3" pipe with mandrel bends in it, air will flow super smoothe rite into the throttle body, the filter will go where the stock filter was and i have plexi glass to make a heat shield around it like you see on a lot of the impalla SS's
