There's a tech article on how to do it off the main page

There's endless debates about whats better if you do a search.

For a quick run down:

Speed density Is the 90-92 ecm for the LB9/L98's (pn 1227730)

It uses a MAP instead of a MAF, becaues of this your intake tract routing possiblilites are endless, you can run without filters, you can run with cold air intake, you can run with ram air, you can run an open element, or whatever you want.

The prom size is twice as big, and because of that you have numerous other calibrations you can make if you get into prom tuning

Those are the two advantages.

The disadvantage is in later years with the better mafs that are out today your measurement of air flow isn't so direct, you measure engine vacuum with SD instead of actual air entering an engine, so accuracy could be brought into question, but practically when comparing a '165 (maf) and a '730 (map) ecm for the thirdgens as your only two options then of the two the technology in the 730 is more than enough to make up for the indirect air flow measurement calculations.
