LT4 and vortec heads?

ok i am going to replace my dead 305 this coming spring with a 350...looking in the scoggins-dickey catalog they have a 330hp 350 for$2,222.80 which seems like a pretty good deal since it also has a 12 month warranty. It has vortec heads and I would like to utilize an LT1 style intake on it but i see that the ports will not align properly....would it be possible to use an LT4 intake or is that a bad idea? i want more rpm than the original LTR setup but can't afford a miniram or anything like that....I am willing to mod and intake but would like as much advice as possible before starting any purchases. Scoggin-Dickey also has a base 350 for $1479.95 but it only has 250 hp, low compression, and a small cam...it would void out the warranty(3 yr-50,000 mile) to do any internal changes plus the added costs of the extra parts would negate any advantage of going that route....Please help if you can. :hail: :hail: I looked in the archives but could not seem to find anything...I'm sure it has already been covered tho.

what about this one?

http://www.goautocenter.com/320hp_alum__head.htm

It is close to the vortec 330HP motor but no issues with the Vortec issues. Should be able ro bolt either a LTR base from 85-86 or mod the LT1 base to fit these heads. Just another option/idea. HTHs

You can only use the LT4 intake with the vortech heads because of the raised ports but I don't know if you will have to mod the LT4 intake bolt pattern for the vortech heads. If you do need to mod the LT4 intake go to LT1intake.com and just follow the instructions on the site.

thanks guys for the quick response....gruvin i am going to look into that motor it seems like the easier route and might be cheaper overall besides....i am on a pretty tight budget(who isn't?). i want to find out exactly what heads are on that motor, since i know what the vortecs flow...i want to make sure that if i do a cam upgrade later that i wont overpower the heads....on the other hand if the ports line up then i might just go with the vortecs and adapt the LT4 intake...i work in a shipyard so i have access to a lot of different machines and experienced people who would be able to assist....like i said thanks a lot guys!

I have asked John Millican over at LT1intake.com this very
question and he said the ports on the LT4 intake match right up to the vortech heads. The LT4 intake is just an LT1 intake with raised ports. Hope this helps and good luck on your combo.

Close, not and exact match but close. You will still need to port match to get a good match.

I don't mess with LT4 intake or Vortec heads.
