Vortec heads on a L98

Ive got a 89 Iroc w/ L98 motor. Im thinking I would like to swap on Vortec heads and the tpi manifold from Scoggin&Dickey.
This car is basicaly a daily driver, I dont put alot of miles on it tho. Plus the occasional trip to the strip and putting rice in their place.

Questions:

1. What cam should I run?
2. Would there be any problem with emissions?
3. How much power coul I expect to make?
4. Does anyone on this site have that kind of set up?

Thanks alot.

also i thought Id also add that in the begining Id keep the stock runners. I would probably upgrade injectprs and a AFPR too.

I can only give you the information on HP from my 305 combination but my opinion of the Vortec heads is they work very well. My spec's are in my sig.

What's the benefit of the "relocated MAT" and where did you relocate it to?

i will get this cam....

when i get back from japan. I have looked long and hard into this question, and i would recommend the LPE 211/219. I have a friend in my car club with a 91 z28, stock heads, pullies and this cam , and she runs 13.5-13.6 at 100mph all day.
I would do this swap this winter, but i will be locking the 'roc up for 4 years.
watch out though when i get back

This may be more "radical" than you are thinking, but still an excellent read concerning Vortec heads and base:

non ported Vortec heads with the right cam will put out around 492 HP

definatly over 500hp if you had them ported & polished. Too bad I don't know wich cam did the trick.
