5.0/5speed G92 guys...
Well, in my quest to find another 3rd gen (i'm just dying here to get rid of the Stand for one) I am SO undecided about one thing... L98 or LB9... I want the 350, but I can't stand the idea of having an auto again. My IROC was fun, but now that i've been driving around a stick, I am just so in love with the amount of control I have over the car. How are you guys with the 305 G92's doing? I am looking for a 91/92 with low low miles (like around 50K). I just plan on some bolt on's (mostly SLP stuff like the catback, headers, runners, etc..). I want to have a consistant 13 second car which will leave my Mustang in the dust (I ran a 14.6 before any mods). I just keeping thinking it'll be better to go with the 305 for now and throw in a 5.7 rather than being stuck in an auto and trying to throw in a T56 later... Then again, it's speed density, so i'm not too keen on the whole prom thing... oh well... opinions please!!!!!

I'm happy.
I'm planning on stroking the engine and dropping in a T56 next spring.
I love rowing thru the gears! Too much fun!

Well my car wasn't G92, but i went through the progression anyway.
With dual cats and L98 exhaust manifolds still running 2.73s i went 14.7 @ 93.2
With SLP headers and 3.23s i went 14.3 @ 95.2
And this is in a heavy convertible. A light 5 speed car with 3.42s can easily outdo those numbers

Mine wasn't a G92 either. It was a 5.0/5-spd/3.08 GTA. Now I have swapped to a 350 and a T56 along with a 4th gen rear. All my mods are in my sig. With 160k on the clock, the worn out 305 with some mods ran a traction limited 14.6@95mph. Now it should go low 13s I'd say. As for SD and proms... don't be scared if thats what you meant. Later, and good luck on the search. I'm looking for another one in a year or so.

(rereading Ed's post) I think if I would've had nitto's or better traction my car would've gone 14.2's or better. I was running those 14.6s with 2.3 short times. I'd say a low mileage G92 with traction and a few mods would do HIGH 13'sor so. I also had the crappy T56's 2.66 first gear compared to a T5's 2.95 gear. That would've helped me too. Oh well, it should go now

305/5-speed G92
3" cat-back
Cat delete pipe
AFPR
crappy H-rated street tires @ 18 PSI
stock TPI intake
stock heads
stock cam
stock exhaust manifolds
uncorrected 1/4 mile was 14.630 w/ a 2.1 60ft
They can be made to perform quite cheaply

Most SD 5 speeds here run mid-high 14s stock. Bolt ons (headers and traction(LCA/torque arm) + basic exhaust/air filter/generic chip) should easily give you low 14s at worst in a SD 5 speed car.
I went 14.6 @96mph with about $600-700 in mods in a 90K miles 89 5 speed GTA 3600lbs race weight

what exactly was the rpo "g92"? i ran it in the rpo decoder on this page and it came up as "G92 : AXLE REAR RATIO, PERFORMANCE"....i thought the g80 was a performance ratio which is the 3.42....
ohh and btw my 91 lb9 t-5 ran a best 14.6 with a crappy 60 ft (2.25)

G80 means positraction. G92 means performance axle ratio, along with other performance options depending on year.

I just want it to run 13's with catback, headers, intake, airfoil, runners, throttle body and some other little things if I have to.

Beings that I can't find an intact rpo sticker on the car I assume my formula is a g80,g92 car.
it's an 88 formula, 9bolt posi with 3.45's and a t-5, has all the qualifications
It's got 110K miles, V rated tires, K&N, and a flowmaster.
launching it easy, and gentle on the gears I've gotten 14.79, and 93 mph out of it.
Tis the daily whip, so no ***** out runs.

don't waste your money on a TB just yet...take that 200 and get an ignition system or something....something that will make a difference in power. Your stock one will flow more then you need....these are not econo boxes from japan...we don't need to replace every part on them to make them fast.
EDIT: WHAT IS YOUR LAUNCH PROCUDURE WITH THE 5speeds?
