Distributor Question
Distributor Question
If I were to swap out intakes, how would I remove the distributor? I bet it's probably something simple but I am don't know what would need to be done.do you just remove the cap? or is it more complex than that?

More than that. I just took out my dist. tonight. There is one bolt that holds it down. You will need to buy a special tool to get to it though. Autozone carries it in there special tool isle, or you could just bend one of your wrenches. It's located directly under the dist. Take off the cap and look under the dist. from the passenger side and you will see it.

oh yeah. one more thing. Don't forget to mark the rotor to the dist. housing and the dist. housing to the intake. This way you won't have to reset your timing.
Marking the dist. will get you close, but you shouldn't count on just a few marks. Get a dial-back timing light, read the instructions that come with it, and set the timing with the light. Any time you pull the distributor, you need to set your timing with a timing light. You can get a cheap one from walmart for $20.
