Bad MAF??????

Took the car for a ride today and got on it for the first time. When I got on it and let off the gas I had a bad back fire and then the car would not run right. I could get it to start or idle. I thought maybe I blew out the maf, but when I looked at it it was fine. I then unplugged it and it ran fine>?< anuy ideas here.??

It's possible the MAF wire could still in place but have a tiny crack somewhere and so is making a bad contact. Plug in the MAF and idle the engine then tap on the MAF housing. If the idle changes then there's a bad contact somewhere.

The ECM monitors the MAF very closely, since it relies on data from it. If a reading is out of range for even as little as 600mS, the ECM will lock a DTC, giving you a nice little reading lamp on the dash.
