I would bring the base up to 8 degs and see how it runs. Then try 10 degs.

With the mods to your exhaust, you will need to add an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to keep enough fuel in the motor.

well i would say you will see a nice gain from it but remember when it comes to tuning bace timing can play a big part it hole shot ,when you leave the line you need to produce as much torque is posable to get that big car moving and that means as much fuel as you deliver and the right amount of spark advance to burn it without producing spark knock . id say just play around with it untell you get it right for your setup

You set timing and fuel pressure as part of a process of testing and tuning. Randomly cranking the dizzy and bumping the fuel pressure is (in laymen's terms) equivalent to playing with your dick. Sure you might feel something, but you're not really getting anything done.

I'd recommend leaving everything alone unless you're at the track, running a g-tech, or at least a scan tool to verify a performance increase. SOTP is the biggest liar you can find when it comes to fine tuning. You could easily bump the timing a couple degrees, 'feel' faster off the line, but actually be getting into knock by the time you hit 3200 rpms, leaving you down 30hp for the rest of the run. etc, etc.
