ouchhhhh!!! This not good!!!!

Well I just finished my HSR install along with my fresh 355cid this past weekend. I posted some pics a few days back. Well Everything was going good untill tuesday.

The car was idling when I statrted to hear a lifter tap. Well it got louder, and louder and louder, to the point where I was running over to it to shut it off. As I got to it it just plain stopped tapping. I was like WTF>?< After a few hours of trying to figuire out what happend I come to find out number 7 cylinder is not firing. I take off the valve cover and bam the rocker arm with the screw in stud on the intake side fall on the floor!!!. I then go to look at the exhaust side and it comes out with 3 turns!!!! The other thing is I cant find one of the pushrods. I had to go to work thatt night so I started wroking on it the next day. I was going to pull all the studs and rockers and ut lock tight on the studs for safety. Well a total of 3 on drivers side were already loose and 2 on passenger side were loose!

I then took a flashlight and a magnet and found the other pushrod lying inside the lifter valley!! I take it out with a magnet and wola it is bent like a J. I posted a pic of it for all to see. The good news is I got everything fixed and back together the same day and drove the car to work with a new pushrod and locktighted rocker studs!!!!

What did you torque the studs to both times and did you put anything on the threads at all the first time?

I torqued them to 55ftlbs the first time around. The valves were set perfectly not to tight or loose. The damn stud just slowly screwed itself out of the head!!!!. Now they are torqued at 65ftlbs with locktight and so far no problems... thank ***

hey, I'm short on a engine build up. Send the rod to me and I'll make it work somehow. *** that looks bad.
