JB's up here in rosedal charges about $140 with tax. thats a pretty standard prcie to. also make sure to get it bored and honed with TQ plates. makes a big difference in ring seal and bore roundeness.

You really need to call your local shop and ask. Rates will vary.

Find out wich shop in the area the local pro-racers use, and use him.

They probrably do for a reason.

i think jb's charges like $35 extar for the TQ plates. thats pretty standard fare. as for teh honing hot tankning etc thats included in the $144 which i think is the current price. i recomend them. they have good turn around time and its only about 30 minute form where you are. they do good work.

there phone number is 410-686-6530 directions from severn are
695 north towards essex. follow to RT 7 north. follow route 7 norht for about 2-3 miles. they will be on the right hand side just past middle river road.

or take 695 to rt 40 on the east side of baltimore yet again towards essex dundalk. take 40 east away form the city. go 2.5 miles to middle river road. turn left on middle river road. goto the next stop light and turn right onto philidelphia rd RT 7 and go about 2 blocks. there right there on the right. the shop is back off the street so its easy to miss. if you drive past the field and see houses youve gone to far. really its barely 2 bolcks off the corner. id say its about 1200ft max. anyways give them a call. they can get all the parts for your rebuild to. good luck and if you need help email me.

Thanx guys. I'll give them a call. I appreciate the advice. I really need to find a good shop. A shop around here quoted me 1200$ for that work plus magnaflux, turn and degrease the crank, new freeze plugs and such, plus a little head work. Mainly grinding valves/seats and installing new seals. What a rip off.

if it were me building the motor i would spedn the money for a few things.

i would go Scoggin Dickey TPi base.
vortec heads and just rebuild the stck lower end adding only a double roller chain and a hot cam tops. itll come in around 1200 but itll rock the house. are you sure the engine needs to be bored ?? ring wear is pretty minimal on these later model engines.

Heads and a bigger cam are on the way later on down the road....when money allows . I'm not sure if it needs to be bored, but I'm figuring it into the budget anyway so I dont get set back if I have to shell out the cash for it. I am seriously considering the TPI base too, but for now i may just port out the stock ones until I get the vortec heads. Thanx
