Stock TPI cam suggestions/questions.

Yeah its been asked and Ive done searches...

Im finally getting a temporart L98 for my GTA while I build the 406, but Id like to put a cam in it before I put it in the car.

This is a stock headed L98, stock TPI with a siamised base about 5". What would be a good cam for this?

From what Ive gathered, the LT4 hot cam would not be good becuase the TPI will stop flowing just as that cam is waking up. Also thinking about the ZZ4 cam as well... I dont have the time to get the heads machined to handle more lift, so take that into account. I think the ZZ4 cam will work well for me with 1.5 rr's, but Im not %100.

Im just looking for a cheap off the shelf cam to throw in for now. Gimme your suggestions!

The ZZ4 worked fine in my 91z28 with no machining on the heads. I used the corvette D-port springs and shorter retainers.

How is your idle quality, and how were the performance gains from the zz4?

I dont think the intake will have any breathing problems after you siamesed it. That cam should work quite well with the intake, it'd be more the heads I would worry about, porting the bowls and making sure they can handle the lift would be a good place to start.
