Vortec TPI question.....
I want to get the vortec TPI manifold and vortec heads. However, I was thinking of going with GM's Fast Burn Aluminum heads instead of the vortec's. I read somewhere that the vortec manifold will work with these haeds. Can anyone confirm this??
I've got the Scoggin-Dickey vortec TPI intake and the GM FastBurns.
The intake does bolt up.
However, the ports on the heads are considerably larger than the port opening of the intake.
But, there is PLENTY of meat to grind on in the intake to match it to the FastBurn openings.
I spent most of my time working at the injector boss.
The ports on my intake (at the runners side) has been opened up to a little over 1-3/4" which is slightly larger than my AS&M large tube runners.
I then blended the larger openings into the transition area (where the round runner becomes rectangular).
I spent quite a bit of time trying to insure each runner was similar to the others, even going so far as to make small templates.
The set-up is not on the car, as of yet. Having a little trouble deciding which engine, 350 block (355 or 383) or 400 (406) block. I have both already machined waiting for the final decision.

I have the Fastburns on my 406 and went with the Victor Jr. Vortech intake and carb. Same situation, lots of meat to port on the intake to make it match the intake runners on the heads.
