need help w/ COMP cam!!

hey guys, I've been plauged w/ bad luck in getting all my parts/orders right. People have been screwing up but anyway everything is here now finally!

I am running the Vortec head/SDPC combo on my L98 and need a cam.

I want to go with the Comp Extreme energy grind nuber XR 269HR. It's a 218/224 .485/.503. Problem is THEY DONT HAVE IT! I ordered it from Summit 2 months ago. And I keep getting back order letters in the mail. Jegs....same problem. I get in touch w/ Comp and the bottom line is the soonest they can get it to me is the middle of December!

Mind you, it's been approx 3 months since I tore the car down and I want it together real soon.

Who/what/where can I get a similar cam. I really like everything about the Comp I have chosen. WIll the LT4 be too much for my SLP prommed computer? It's a 218 /228...i think it may be a bit too much.

Took me about 2.5 months last year to get the same cam. SLP sells the same cam I believe, but with 114LSA May want to try the lingenfelter 211/219 ? I think. or 211/216 one of them.

Hmm i think you may have the specs off just a bit...
pn# 249-08-422-8 Cam Only
Grind: 270
Lift: .495''/.502''
RPM Range: 1600-5400
(copied off jegs website)
i ordered it on nov 6 and got it on the following monday (2 day shipping) from jegs and have already installed it in the car,

So i would get back with jegs and try that part number. As for the hot cam it should give you very similar results for $65 less. It shouldn't be any more radical than the 270 grind that you were going to buy. About a week after i ordered it i realized i had the specs for both cams off a bit in desktop dyno. Desktop dyno is showing the hot cam good for about 3-4 more hp and for 65 bucks you could buy some other speed goodies

I've got the Comp 220/230 in my 383. Started up and ran on the stock PROM. Get the buring stuff and go to town, it's the best way to do it, otherwise you'll be forever getting ripped off having to buy a chip. I got my cam through Thunder Racing.
