PASSED EMISSIONS TEST today.

Just an Update,
New Engine up and running,
Barr Racing built 355 cid 4 bolt main, new GM Performance Parts Forged crank, 6 in. Eagle Rods,
Custom forged JE Blower Pistons 9.5 to 1CR, All ARP bolts, O-Ringed Block, copper head gaskets, Aluminum L98 Heads Ported by GTP, 2.00 int. 1.60 exh. Valves, CompCams Pro Magnum Stainless Roller Rockers, CompCams Roller Lifters, CompCams custom grind blower cam 220 & 230 @ .050
.560 & .570 valve lift 114 LS, Ported TPIS BigMouth Lower Intake, AS&M Large Tube Runners,
Ported & Gasket Matched upper plenum, 52MM TB, 30# Bosh injectors @ 55psi, Paxton Blower 7# psi,
SLP 1 ¾ Headers, Random Tech 3in Cat, Gale Banks Cat back system.

Well I finished the car, Its up and running , Holly S_ _ _ _ , Its Strong as HelI, I tuned the VE Tabels from 30kpa to 90kpa, as far as the P/E Tables I set them way Rich and the 100kpa Ignition timing down to 23deg max.
I found with this cam to Idle right I had to set the Air/Fuel to 14.2 to 1 and set the timing to 26deg @ 725 rpm. Idles Great and sounds mean. Today I went for the state Inspection, the Dyno one, I live in Tarrant county, It PASSED every thing well under the standard except the HC @ 25mph It just squeaked by @ 112HC.
NEXT: on to Bob Norwoods Dyno for some WOT Tuning, I most likely have to burn many chips to get it right.

I’m at work now so I’ll post some pics later.

Sweet. - Any idea what kind of power your making yet? - I'd love to see some track times and some dyno #'s on that thing. Sounds, and looks like(from your sig) you have one hell of a ride there. - Good luck!

later...justin

For those of us who are race-engine-challenged....what's an "o-ringed" block?

an o-ringed block has grooves cut around each cylinder and theres copper i believe it is in the grooves...it seals better then "street" head gaskets

Sounds nice Louis.
1 Question, what did you do about the EGR with the Aluminum L98 Heads? Are you using it or is it just sitting there?

I hope to see you at the track sometime this spring.

Z_Ghost,
Your correct It's just sitting there.
I dissabled it in the chip and had to rework the timming tables so it would pass the NOX part of the new Emissions test.
As far as HP #'s the only numbers I have are from the engine builders dyno.
He broke it in on the Dyno and then did some pulls, he put a stock 4brl Intake and a 750 holley carb on it.
It made 390hp and 418 tq N/A.
With my blower setup, Ported intakes and 52mm T/B, I'm capable of flowing 1050 cfm @ 6psi, should bring me to 550 hp.
I'll post my Dyno #'s when I finish the WOT tuning at Norwoods Dyno

How did you do that above? Not with TunerCat?

Yes,
In TunerCat. In the constants I set the Air / Fuel ratio to 14.2 to 1.
It still will pass the Emissions test, but the HC will be a little hi.
Mine @ the 25mph test was 104hc with the limit being 114hc
@ the 15mph test mine was 80hc.

You changed the A/F across the board?!! Won't this render your o2 sensor even less accurate? What made you do this?

(You changed the A/F across the board?!! Won't this render your o2 sensor even less accurate? What made you do this?)

With this BIG cam (duration 220 & 230 @ .050 and .560 & .570 valve lift with 114 LS) I needed to, to get it to Idle correctly, It also helped the responsiveness in the lower RPM's.
apparently It didn't render the O2 less accurate because It has very clean Emissions, and the Gas mileage is good (22 mpg).

I'm guessing the O2 still switches at the 14.7 to 1, but the average of the switching is now richer 14.2 to 1.

When I go to the dyno for the WOT tunning I'll have them check the actual air / fuel ratio at idle and cruise.

With the motor you have in that car the rear end would be a really big concern to me too.
I might show up, seems with all the help I have been giving to some of the guys in the club and having an ear infection this weekend I am falling behind on my car and really need to be working on it, but I might still show up.
