Question for those who have removed the heat sinks from your MAF

How long has your MAF lasted after making this mod?

Any noticeable SOTP/ET inprovement?

Thanks!

SOTP improvement might not be noticable but your wallet may feel lighter when you need to replace the Maf.

I think Willie ran his without fins for a few years without problems. As long as you dont break the wire while you are removing the fins, it should be fine.
I have one thats been sans fins for about a year of driving time. Its fine too.

Of course if you dont know what you are doing and are careless, you might have to replace it.

Mine's been gutted and descreened for 5 years now...and this is on a 12 year old MAF. No problems with it so far (knocks on wood). As for improvement, I really can't say for sure. It might have gained some but not enough to feel it on the *** dyno.

I wonder for every Maf thats been (so called) sucessfully descreened, how many people screwed them up and won't admit it?? I still think this descreening of the Maf is a Third Gen Myth (horsepower gain) and should not be encouraged. That Sensor is already a weak link in the TPI system. My opinion.
