Just curious who is possibly running a hotcam with the HSR?? Can't decide whether I want to run the LSR or a modified LT1 intake. They're about the same cost overall, but the HSR can be purchased new and completed minus any troubles the LT1 intake might cause me. Any thoughts opinions on this? Think the hotcam and HSR would be a good combo?? TIA!

Unfortunately Im not running a HSR with my hotcam yet. Even though the LT1 is a proven performer in LT1s, it is too much of a chop job with the cooling for me.

Mike (85MikeTPI) is running the HSR and an LT4 Hot Cam with AFR190s and is running 11.8s@114+ MPH. Full weight too!

Kevin (kevinc) is also running the HSR and LT4 HOT Cam with AFR190s. No times yet but from what I know he is really happy with it.

Yep, here's the dyno comparison between it
and the siamesed TPI base:

Depending on how well your iron heads are ported,
you may need to move to some better ones to reap
the HSR benefits..

Hey Mike,

All you need now to become the offical database for intake/hot cam comparo's is a dyno sheet of a SuperRam mated to your engine. That would help a lot of people out on this board, including me, in terms of ideas for what to do. Kick *** numbers by the way.

I have the HSR and HOT cam no times or dyno #s yet(just put the engine in).I have yet to tune my combo yet but I think the hot cam is but mild for me.The comp XR282HR looks lot more promising with the stealth ram.

Thanks guys! I think I might just go with the HSR. I'm still gonna save for AFR 195's though. Guess I'll see how it does with the hotcam and iron heads first. Thanks again!

Mike, great dynoe numbers, looks like a more well balanced engine now and not such a torque monster. LOL That thing looks like it just keeps pulling and pulling and pulling! What kind of ET/MPH gains did you get by swapping to the HSR?? I see the improved dyno numbers, but what about ET/MPH??? Thanks! Later

I believe I'd have to pay someone to bolt it
on though... 8-) [PITA-ram]

Seriously though, I may get to it next year if
the one down the street is off by then... 8-)

I have a single-plane EFI also, but it wasn't
as good as the HSR.. (12.1 @ 111) I was
at the dyno with it, but the dyno broke before
I could get on..

The chart is on the dyno page, near the
bottom..

Over the siamesed-TPI it gained about 4
tenths and 5mph.

(over the EFI single plane it gained about 3
tenths and 3mph.)

I was thinking of this same combo but is there a cam that will make more torque in the usable 2,000-5000rpm range. the hot cam does great in the top end but my engine wont see 6000 rpms that often,

assumeing you have at least a 4.11 rear gear and a 3500 stall converter or a manual trans heads that flow at least 250cfm@.500 lift and a good exhaust/headers and performance is the most important goal these two cams BETTER match the flow and rpm curves of the HSR than the hot cam

From the GMPP catalog:
24502586 Hydraulic Roller (LT4 Hot Cam)

This hydraulic roller cam is for service only for all V8 engines with
roller camshafts. The duration at lash point in degrees
(intake/exhaust) is 279/287; duration at .050" tappet lift
(intake/exhaust) is 218/228; and maximum lift with 1.6 rocker ratio
(intake/exhaust) is 525/525. Valve lash is zero/zero and lobe
centerline is 112 degrees.

try it in your DD-2000 software or your engine and youll see what I mean, Im running the #119661 in my 383 and have run the http://dab7.cranecams.com/SpecCard/D...1=Display+Card

which is cranes version of the hot cam for a short time. (which is a great hot street cam BTW but not a true PERFORMANCE/RACE cam

Nice #'s mike. What kind of suspension stuff are you running to pull that kind of 60'?

I'm running the CC306 in my car w/ the stock TPI. I noticed a difference in how the car acted right away. I'll be going w/ the HSR in the near future. I'm hoping for a mid-low 12. And then spray an 11. Am I way off here, or is it very possible w/ minor tuning? :hail: :hail:
