Smoooooth Idles possible?

For you fellows with stock 350 tune ports, is your idle smooth? I suppose thats a relative idea, my idea or smooth is not bein able to feel the idle at all. Mine isnt, I do have a cat back 3", but my idle has never been perfectly smooth. I've got a 120k on her. Is the rougher idle just with age? Or is there stuff thats causing it. I've had a recent tune up. I recently adjusted my TPS to .54 volts with like a 2 dollar digital meter, so I hope its right. Thanks in advance! and Happy holidaysss! - Tom

I do like the rumbling too, but is it rumbling because something is wrong, or because its supposed to? Thanks!

well if something is wrong. you'll definitly know it. i have never had a "ghost" problem with my iroc. if its broke it lets itself be known

I don’t think you are going to get a perfectly smooth idle with the stock 350. It is normal for you to be able to feel the idle. Drop a nice big cam in and the idle will give you a nice "vibrating chair" feeling.

Ya i was wondering the same thing, my 85 TPI 305 dont really have a smooth ideal either. if iam in drive and stopped at a light you can see on the tach and feel it that its not smooth.

I have cleaned everything and the TPS is set and .54 so i dont know why its doing it, the only thing that the motor has done to it is that it has no smog or cat.

To get a good smooth idle you need plenty of vacuum. Check those rubber hoses. I had a tiny pin hole in my line to the brake master and once it was replaced my idle improved noticeably. It was not horrible before but not what it used to be if you know what I mean.

Ugh, so I went and set my TPS to .54 volts with a $2 digital meter now I got awful hesitation under 2000 rpm! Is the mter not giving an acurate reading or did it blow up? At first when i connected the test leads i put them in terminals A and C not A and B... maybe it shorted? Doh! What do you think? Thanks
