which headers?
which headers?
Here's what I'm dealing with: 2.5" madrel bent pipes, flowmaster 80 series muffler. But basically it's the same format as stock. The headers are stock and I fear they may suck. So which headers do I get? I'm looking for whatever will give me more hp and torque, as usual. Which company? where do i get them? how much do they cost? Thanks so much.

Hmmn.,would have thought you'd had a dozen replies by now...
For longevity, SS is a must...and as far as I know, the only SS headers out there for our cars are by SLP...they come both in "off Road" or "50-state" legal.
For the 305, 1-5/8th are recommended.
Maybe you should take a trip to the exhaust board...for all I know, they have full length headers that are legal now.

The Edelbrock headers are nickel plated not coated, deceptive little bastards aren't they
Anyway they would last longer and look better than rusted old headers. Edelbrocks are supposebly the easiest to install and even their painted have a decent heat resistant finish. Search the exhaust board you'll find a whole lot of info.

The black painted Edelbrocks are not heat resistant...That coating burns off instantly. I put mine on, the coating burnt off so I took them off, sandblasted them and had them ceramic coated. Avoid the Edelbrocks cause the routing of some pipes causes problems with plug wire routing and access to the plugs are a pain in the @ss. Mine look good and function good too so besides that they are good.
