altanator

a few weeks ago my car started making a winding noise and everytime i gave it gass it would get louder because it sounded like it was winding up. so i got the altanator changed but it still makes the same noise but not as loud but its still there....................could this noise be coming from anything else.......like the air pump or something?

Could be the pump, but alot of times it is the tensioner pulley..Carefully take a short broom stick handle or something and put it to each pulley one at a time and put the other end to you ear..be carefull though..This will show you which pulley is making your noise.. works like a stethascope...Let us know what you find. using a screwdriver i/o a broom handle may be easier to handle. I use an actual automotive stethoscope. Makes it real easy to pinpoint noises. When my car was doing that I found the problem to be the a/c compressor.
