Anyone Mod a TPI like this?

Hey people,
Was just wondering If anyone has ever took a stock TPI and made the upper half of the runners a Boxed in welded design to mimic a Super Ram set up?
Id figured Id ask here since Ive seen many types of ideas and mods before, just never seen this idea I had.

I figured if one could cut the runners open at the halfway point, then have some aluminum plates welded in,to a box design, cut the rest of the upper tubes away, you could increase the plenum volume while shortening the runner length.Id take the plenum itself and open the bores up to match the boxes.

If anyones ever seen this,or knows of a pic, post away.I do know the TPI itself and the intake is a restrictive design but its just something im thinking about.I have a several spare runners, plenums and intakes and wouldnt mind experimenting and making a homemade SR style plenum out of these parts. But just wanted to see if its been done before,if any results, etc.

Thanks!

don't know if anyone has specifically boxed the upper half of the runners, but some folks have siamesed the runners along their whole length, I do believe. Search for siamesed.

Don, out of curiosity what is that costing you, or how much would you charge to do that to a set of SLPs?

Thanks for the replies guys...I couldve added more info but I didnt want to make the post too long...Ive already seen the siamesed design and i also have SLP runners that ive already cut the back open and removed the divider walls but never finished that project.Ive also seen the Guldstrand GS80 fully siamesed stock runners they modifed as well from the 80's and etc.TPIS had something similar in their catalogs with their large tubes fully siamesed but heard they had problems with the welds holding etc.

Anyways,Ive just never seen a home made SR design and was curious to see if someone here has done it or came across it.
The SLP runner mods is close but doesnt have the large plenum box design a SR has.Its almost too bad someone doesnt have a runner kit to bolt to the plenum that is boxed on top and short tubes towards the bottom to simply bolt to the stock plenum and intake giving a SR style set up.I dont think it would make that much more power but would seem feasible to help torque and increase the rpms or HP peak a bit higher while allowing a little better volume of air to fill in to increase the mass and air charge going into the intake.IOW,Id think itd look pretty cool.

It would probrably work fine - Except for you would still be LImited By the stock base and Stock Diameter Runners.

Then again, You could easily use an aftermarket Base And Runners, But Lookit that - You just re-invented the SuperRam, and probrably spent more doing it

If you are a Skilled Tig Welder with Time on your hands - Go For it.
