e.) possibly all of the above.

I wouldn't. I took the screen out of mine way back when, no difference. Some people have problems when they mod the maf, I havn't had a problem with mine but it did nothing for me so I would rather have just left it.

The Best Mod you can Do for your Maf Turns it Into a MAP.

In the time it takes you to meticulously Remove the screens and Heat sink - You could have Converted to Speed Density.

well.... i will be doing that most likely when i switch to the 350 a couple years down the road. but for my 305 aplication im just gona stick w/ the MAF for now. And unless something big changes my mind i will probably just leave the MAF unmodified.

I've had two maf cars now one 305, and one 350. I descreened both sensors and noticed nothing on the 305 but I think I can actually feel a difference on the 350. Either way its probably not worth taking a chance on.

I've had my MAF de-sceened for about 3 years now and I can tell you it does not do a damn bit of difference. Leave it alone, it doesn't do anything except add to the chance of a broken sensor. Search around for Vader's posts on this. He has studied the MAF sensor quite a bit. He'll tell you why the screens are there and why they should be left alone. I don't think GM put them there to **** us off so we take them off.

I know quite a few people that have messed with the MAF and had just ended up short one MAF. I did not experience any problems....but I would NOT do it again with what I know now just in case I wasn't so lucky the next time. NO GAINS AT ALL.
