LS1 injectors in an L98?

Can I use LS1 28 pound injectors in a Super Ram equipped L98? I have the fuel system to run 53 psi like the LS1's. Is there any benefit over the FMS injectors? I assume they are the most modern out there and have a good spray pattern. The thing that bothers me is that the LS1's are sequential fire and the L98 is batch fire therefore is help open longer.

Anyone running these in an L98?

Do a search. I swear this has been discussed before...and If I remember right you can do it as long as you shave a part of the ls1 injectors.

Your right it has been discussed. Right now I use pound FMS pounders in my 396 small block. I make about 430 fwhp and I am at 80% dc now. I'm going to a larger cam and I'm not sure if I can get what I need with fuel pressure or not.

Good thing I don't need to get on the phone and order up a set of "pounders"!

You guys are pretty funny!!!!!!!!

Yes, this has been discussed many times. I will list a few facts:

The so-called 28#/hr LS1 injectors are rated at 58psi (not 53psi).
These 28# injectors came in the '98 Camaro/Firebird and '97/'98 LS1 Corvettes.

The 28#/hr LS1 injectors flow the same as the 24#/hr LT1 injectors which are rated at 43.5psi.

I have 26#/hr injectors in my '99 LS1 Camaro. BTW: This car is now making 400RWHP. I am still running the complete stock fuel system in this car.

The '99/'00 LS1 cars came with 26#/hr injectors. I believe that the '01 also came with 26#/hr injectors. To the best of my understanding, the '02s have gone back to the 28#/hr injectors.

24#/hr SVO injectors will flow 27#/hr at 50psi. This is what I am running right now.

The LS1 fuel system uses 58psi. Therefore, the fuel injectors in LS1 cars are rated at 58psi.

The L98 fuel system uses 43.5psi. Therefore, L98 fuel injectors are rated at 43.5psi.

Flow equation:

new flow rate = SQRT(new fuel pressure/rated fuel pressure) * rated flow rate.

Example: What is the flow rate of 24#/hr SVO injectors in a third gen car with the AFPR set at 50psi?

new flow rate = SQRT(50/39.5) * 24.0
new flow rate = 1.125*24.0
new flow rate = 27.0#/hr

Thanks for the reply Doc. I guess if I need more juice I can turn up the FP on the 24's. I have a Racetronix fuel system using the Walbro 340 pump. I do all my own tuning also. Can the FMS 24 pound injectors handle up to 50 psi reliably?

I dont know anything about the quality or limits of FMS injectors. But I dont see why they would not handle even 60psi. Maybe you could email the manufacturer about that.

You did a good thing in upgrading to a much better fuel pump. You should not ever run out of fuel. I was on my modded stock displacement L98. I installed a TTA fuel pump.
