What are my choices for a new intake?

I don't know what would be the best bet for a different intake setup besides just the plain old TPI. so what are my options, best bets? thanks..... all I know of is the superram and the one made by holley. I did searches too, nothing like what i wanted.

Thanks

Josh

OK, this is just my opinion,

I think that the Accel SuperRam is the best TPI intake. However, it is PITA to install.

But, for performance, I dont think that it can be beaten.

Ok, let the war start!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly, let the war start! Thats the problem with these types of threads. Different people like different things, obviously. Each person has something that works better for them, therefore you will have different opinions, all of the time. If you want to know alternatives to a "plain old tpi", then here is a list and you can perform a new search on these! You have bigger runners and manifolds, but it is still going to have the tpi look and those set ups are called LTRs, long tube runners. Same as tpi, just bigger for more air flow. Then you have the super ram, holley stealth ram, miniram, and the lt1 intake, modified by whomever! Those are the main ones i know. There is also a t-ram, good luck finding one. And there is also a tunnel ram, but i believe they are made for larger engines. Also, you have the GM ram jet intake. Hey, you could always go carb! lol good luck, this topic is disscussed every week and there are many knowledgeable people who know almost everything you need to know about every intake out there. Hope that helps and doesn't start on opinion war at the same time! later

Good luck man, there are tons of different variables for each! Many of them are run on this very board so just ask around what people are going with. Later

Check my post, I said that this was my opinion. I know that this type of question leads to a war. But this is my opinion, right or wrong.

And yes, there are alot of choices and combinations.

You will have to sort thru alot of post and make a decision of what is best for you.

PLEASE DO NOT POST WHY ONE INTAKE IS BETTER!! THIS REPLY IS JUST TO INFORM HIM OF WHERE EACH ONE OF THESE INTAKES PERFORM.

Stock TPI = -4850rpm (Can be 5k - 5200 with large tube runners and big mouth base manifold)

SuperRam = loss of a little torque below 2k but will rev to 6k sometimes more with the proper setup.

Mini-Ram and LT1 intakes = Bigger loss of Low end torque, but don't realy have a rpm limit. I think that it is 7k, I guess if you have the engine it might rev more, but not likely.

Cost is usually the issue. The LTR (long tube runner) and the superram are the only two that are emissions legal at this time. There might be a way to make the others legal, but at this time no one has found a way.

doc, i was not flaming you or even stating that due to your response! You are absolutely right though, thats why i said this starts to war. I just gave him a run down of the intakes i know of so that he can research them more. Thats what i read through his post, that he did not know of any other intakes. So i listed some for him. Didn't mean to throw anything in your face if thats what you were think. Sorry-later guys

86IROCNJ,

No, you did good. You gave a good description of available intakes. I have no problem here. Its just that I know that this kind of thing leads to a war and I dont want to get involved in it.

Maroon-IROCZ, you summed things up pretty good too.
