Is keeping my engine TPI worth it???

I am going to at some time put a 350 based engine in my 86 IROC. But i am considering whether or not to keep it Tuned Port. I want to know what would be cheaper, more powerful, and easier. Any input would be great. thanks

You might have to keep it TPI depending on the emissions regulations in your area. Some states require keeping it fuel injection if that is what the car came with. If the car came with a carb you can do whatever you want. I would say that going to a carb is alot easier. If this is a street driven car or daily driver though TPI is not a bad way to go. You can increase the efficiency of the stock system or go with an aftermarket setup like the Stealthram. It's up to you. Personally although it's a pain in the @$$ to work with at times it is what I prefer.

I would get rid of the TPI. Either the SuperRam, Stealth Ram, or converted LT1 intakes would be good choices, depending on your goals. You can find PLENTY of info on all of them by doing a search. Just do the research, find good head/cam combos for the intake you decide on and you can't go wrong. But I would definitely get rid of the TPI.

I'm getting too old I guess but I like the looks of the tpi!!! It's a pain for a novice sometimes but if it is your everyday driver, it is hard to beat. BUT, if you race at the track do the search for the best upgrade for your mods. I would stay with EFI but thats just my 2 pennies. Dave.

Sorry to answer your question with a question, but here goes:

- What do you want (expect) out of your car?

Unless you are trying to get faster than, say 13's, then leave the stock intake as it is. Work the suspension/tires/driverain to handle the torque output of the motor and you can get fast w/out swapping intakes.
