A TB bypass on a TPI engine consists of disconnecting the hose that goes from the manifold to the TB, and the hose on the other side that goes out of the TB to the heater control valve. You join these together and bypass the TB. The purpose of this is so the throttle plates don't freeze in colder climates. The downside is that it could hurt performance because the hot coolant could warm up the air going in the engine, and warm air = less power. I dunno how much improvement in performance, if any, you get out of doing this. But it made sense to me that if the TB is warm or hot, then the air passing thru it has to warm up.
