The best run was with a pair of Nitto DRs. My car is not a daily driver, so that is what I bought for them when I needed two tires.
Everything that day was perfect. Perfect weather around 58-60 degrees. Perfect track prep (at first anyway). I hooked so hard, I'm surprised that I didn't break anything on my stock rear-end!
I ran a 1.69 and 1.75, 60' times that day! The tires alone helped by 60' and 1/4 mile times by over a half second from my previous runs. On true street tires, I usually run low 14's and am happy if I see a 2.0 60' time.
As far as the way I launch, I have found it helpful to hold the brake and briefly put the car in reverse once I get into position. This helps lock the limited slip into place and I am more likely to launch with both wheels. However, I do not hold the brake and torque the motor while waiting on the lights. Basically, I just lay into the throttle hard enough not to break traction (hopefully) when its time to go.
Hope that helps!
