engine bogging down between 0 and 2000 RMP...some one help please!

something is wrong with my engine...and i cant figure it out. the engine is an 88 305 TPI, and when it's at 2000 RPM and under it like boggs down...kinda like it's out of gas (it's not). it's fine if im on it hard like racing someone or being an idiot, but if im starting out from a stop light or just cruzin and i give it a little gas it dosent want to go. it has new plugs and wires so i know it's not them, and the air filter is fine. what do you think it is? fuel filter maybe?

Also what is the stock rev limiter set at in this? if there even is one. i was driving it around tonight trying to figure out what it was and i went up to a 1/4 mile and really got on it hard. i have a 700r4 tranny with manual servos. and i stopped dropped down to first and took off. i was shifting like between 5000 and 5200 rpm (i know it's not that high...but i usually dont shift that high unless im at the track) and when i was in third around 4800 it felt like the rev limiter kicked in because it slowed down and woulnt go any higher in rpm. this scared the **** out of me cause it's never happened before so i shut it down right away and i didnt try it again. anyone have any ideas what that might be? do you think these 2 are related? i dont drive my truck hard often so it's not like im constantly beating the **** out of it.

sorry for the encyclopedia i just had alot to ask. thanks to anyone who helps.

Did it start doing that after you put new plugs and wires in?

no ive driven close to 8000 miles on the new plugs and wires. i used MSD wires. And i used ACdelco plugs because i know the GM's dont relly like anything but OEM plugs. so i dont think it's the plugs and wires.

Jared,
Mine did this as well. Turned out to be the EGR valve. Try disconnecting the vac line (at the egr valve) that goes to the EGR valve under the TPI plenum from the solenoid (which is located beside the distributor cap).
With the line disconnected, start up the motor. With the trans in park/netural, slowly press the accelarator and see if she bogs down. Mine totally went away after doing this.
If it's fine withe the line disconnected, you need to check the egr valve and solenoid for proper operation.
