Advice on new SLP runners please

I am a little suprised at how rought the casting is, especially around the runner holes as the top and bottom. Is this normal? I guess it would be worth it to round out the holes and match them to the plenum, that wont be to hard. Matching to the base would involve taking the base off. I just got on the new accel base and I sure don't want to take it off again. I guess you could use a gastet or template with thin carboard or something on the base, then match the runners to that right? I also noticed that the top holes in the runners are slightly siamesed. I assume it would be worth it to siamese the plenum to these openings right?

Is all this rounding and matching really worth it or should I just bolt them on?

Match them now, otherwise you won't realize much, if any, gains from the runners. You'll want to port that base too as it's cast with the same size holes as the stock base (or pretty close anyway), just with more meat to be able to port them further than you could the stock one. Fire up the die grinder and good luck!

Larry,

You don't need to pull the base...asssuming the work involved will be with the runners.

Use the gaskets as a template

Siamese the upper plenum to the runners - other wise the siamesed upper runners are negated thier effect.
