IAC Will not hold its setting, Is the ECM resetting everytime I turn off my car???

I do the whole process of setting the IAC from putting the ecm in flash code mode all the way to setting the Idle stop screw and It works pretty good untill I turn off the car and then the Idle never really goes below 750rpm. Is this normal? Is there any way to see if the Ecm is resetting everytime I turn off the car? would this cause such a problem?

Que?

Your post makes no sense. When you set minimum air, you are setting a min throttle opening for ECM calibration purposes. This is a mechanical setting and is independent of the IAC opening by definition.

In operation, your idle speed is 100% controlled by the ECM via the IAC. The stock idle speed on a 305 can be anywhere from 550-650 IIRC, + 100rpm for PN adder. So a 750 idle speed makes perfect sense for a 305 in park. Would even make sense in gear if you assume that the factory tach EASILY could be off by 200rpms.

Now in light of that information, what is your car doing wrong?

I have a Manuel tranny, In nuetral it idles at 750 I just thought that once it warmed up the Idle Air control would switch off and let the engine do its thing. I guess I am wrong. the IAC controls the idle all the time is what your saying right? Then what is the purpose of setting the minimum idle??

The purpose of setting minimum air is to "calibrate" the IAC's idle range. The limitations of the idle passage's max and min flow (full open and full closed IAC valve) necessitates this preliminary adjustment.

Right, sounds like you're barking up the wrong tree on this one.

If you set the minimum air correctly, which seems to be the case, then you are fine. Um...yes, stop tripping.
