Vortec..SDPC Intake.... 1st tests are in...

Sunday @ Fontana... First run of the day, they caught me with the diacom hooked up and made me disconnect it and put it in the back seat, unable to get tuning results that way. So I just ran it with what I had. Only run I got. Next one spun so bad I clicked it off.
RT: .484 RL (oops)

60' 1.81

330' 5.42

1/8 8.43

mph 81.27

1000' 11.04

1/4 13.23

mph 102.91

Good for a start, looks like I need a ram air kit in the front (low MPH) Poor guy in the '99 LS1 never new what hit him (he chose me to grudge race) he went 13.46 104.23
See combo in sig:

Great times! I'm really interested in your suspension mods and your launch technique. I'm running a 357ci with TFS G1 heads, Accell base, AS&M runners, 52mm Holley TB, 1 5/8" headers. I had more MPH but a slower time. I ran 13.5 @ 103.7 before the base/runners. I'm desperatly looking for 12's. I'm hoping you could offer some insight.

Hey Don those runs sound great. I have been planning on building an engine with those same heads, lower manifold, and runners. I was wondering what kind of timing you are running or what you think I should set my base timing at when I get my motor running?

I'm using the Tremec after market T-56 so....the driveshaft is 2" shorter as is the torque arm (not sure if that did anything) I usually unhook the sway bar in the front and I have an air bag in the right rear spring with 20-30 lbs. of pressure. Other than that the suspension remains stock. On this run I launched @3500 then I tried 5000 and went up in smoke (Rt. lane vs left. lane).

I run 8 degrees initial timing and 35-36 total w/100 octane unleaded.

The guy said I could leave the computer on the seat if I could figure out a way to strap it down. You can bet i will have something next time.

They wont let you run with loose items in the car in case of an accident. The laptop was just sitting in the passenger seat. We couldnt figure out a way to use the seatbelt so we'll try something else next time. They've said something to us about it before but this is the first time they've enforced it.

What gears are you running out back? I'm in the process of building a very similar setup. I plan on using 4.10's, but have also considered 3.73's. I imagime this setup has tons of torque, and have wondered if 4.10's might cause 1st to be almost useless. Were you running the stock chip until you get some tuning data or had you already tweaked it? How much do you feel the 1.6:1 rockers gave you over a set of full roller 1.5:1's? Sorry for all the questions but I'm really excited to see a buildup that's so close to mine. I'm getting close to finishing so I'm becoming impatiant. Excellent times. Thanks for the info.

So the motor is running great Don? You got all the rocker studs changed over the weekend.. So next time you will have Ram air right? Take off that grille and put a Iroc grille on since your a clone I wonder how much you would pick up with a SR

I have a 9-bolt 3:45... I'm using a chip we have used previously but we have found it to be a little rich so I lowered the WOT table 10%. ...The 1.6's allow a little more lift which makes up for the 1.94-1.50 valves in the vortec heads. The SLP runners, plenum, and base have been thoroughly gone over to match everything up. As soon as I solve the air problem the MPH should increase considerably. The other car picked up 5mph with the air problem fixed. (Kevin91z)
