TB Coolant bypass.

I was curious if there would be any problem in doing this with my 88 350 TPI. The colder air would be more dense which is good for combustion reasons, but would I get more blow-by and ruin anything? thanks!

No, you will not hurt anything, I don't know if there is a great amount of perf to gain, but hey the price is right, and every little thing helps,- though i would not "expect" any sotp improvement
later GTA.......

Here's an old thread of mine which should cover just about everything to do with this.

We've had some discussions on it. The conclusion, I think, was that it was more for aesthetic purposes, and that the actual gain is likely to be pretty small and only existant during certain brief operating times. We've never seen any problems from doing the mod.

Makes it alot easier to do things with the intake, with those stupid hoses out of the way.

I have noticed about a 20 degree drop in intake air temp according to Diacom but as everybody has said the effect is minimal. It does get rid of one potential collant leak also.

I did it in my 350 tpi and it seemed to make a slight diff. in the intake temp after the car is warmed up. in the dead of winter it used to run a little funny when it was cold. I say it is definetly worth it though, any free mod is worth it!

if you guys really want your cars to run nice and cool then i say definitely DO the manual fan switch mod. i did that on my old Formula and the difference was like night and day. if you read the article in the tech section of this site they tell ya how to do it and they explain to ya how GM's fan switch design will (im some circumstances) let your baby OVERHEAT!!! by manually controlling the fans YOU can control the temp your car runs at...

ya doing the manual fan switch mod is realy nice it keeps everyhting cool and you can let it warm up in the morning and turn it on at stop signs and when your beating on it hard to keep it cool. its real easy to do to.
