Evaluate my spark plug appearence
This plug has 500 miles on it. Put in with the new 350 into my '87 IROC. TPI, w/ old style motor/heads. Gapped at .045... the year car is gapped at .035... but the plugs with these heads on my '85 IROC were gapped .045.
Sorry for the crappy picture but it's the best this free camera will take. The electrode is brown... and there seems to be alot of carbon like build up around the treads. Is this a normal plug? Is my gap too big? Is the heat range too cold?

It's 500miles on a brand new engine, and I don't see any smoke out the rear....

That doesn't mean your not burning oil. Your ring might not be seated yet. No big deal. Also you might be a little "fat" on the A/F ratio. Not much though....Jeff

Acording to my haynes and my best judgement, its carbon build up and it was dry... saying that I have weak ignition, or running rich. So I posted it here for a 2nd opinion :O)
I've got 24lb injectors and I was running at a little higher pressure when first starting because I wasn't sure where to set it, and would rather be rich.... my BLMs were a little rich, I backed it down to normal pressure and its still running good. My coil is about a year and a half old MSD blaster gm... thought about getting a new one when I get my MSD box. GM recommends changing every 30k... and it's got about that.
I know it doesn't mean that I'm not burning oil, I just don't like the sound of that, LOL.
