runner and base work
I've spent the better part of the weekend smoothing the rough casting down inside my slp runners and inside my vortec baseplate and got to wondering about siamesing the bottom portion of the runners and/or the baseplate. I've been sitting here reading past post on siamesing the two and it seems that as soon as I decide it's something that I need to do, I'll see someone saying something against it. I know it's been a topic that's been brought up time and time again and I'm sorry for putting everyone through it one more time. Although I'm pretty sure I won't be the last. Do you guys think I will benefit from it? I believe I'm going to be going with a comp cam with similar numbers to the zz-409 cam. The high price and slow customer service have just about driven me from buying anything from TPIS. If I was to siamese the runners or baseplate say an inch, maybe 2", what kind of torque loss would I be looking at, for what kind of gains? I know everyones gains and losses are different, just looking for a round about number. Would it be better to siamese the runners at the bottom or to hack into the baseplate? Thanks for any info, and again, sorry for bring this all up again.
