Plenum smell?

Ok, I took my plenum off earlier for some porting, this is the first time I have had it off and it has a strong gas smell inside it.. Normal or not? Thanks everyone...

gas smell is pretty normal... the FI's are right there and sometimes the fumes can rise up on ya. Thats what basicly blackens the inside of the plenum
