What Is Lope?

I keep hearing this word but don't really know what it means...i have the summit tpi cam. When my car is idling the rpms go up and down, is that lope?

lope is a sound. Wandering idle may or may not be associated with lope. It's possible to idle pretty smoothly and still have a lope. Likewise, it's possible to have a totally unstable idle with a peanut cam with no real lope at all that just sounds like hell.

I just did a quick check of the sounds section here, and this one has a decent lope once he gets it to idle. The last few seconds where it's just chugging along is a classic lope sound.

That video takes a while too load, but it's also a good example of a lopey idle.

BTW, neither example is a good example of a well tuned cammed car.
