How is idle w/ LT4 Hotcam? Any Lope?
Just wondering how the idle is w/ an LT4 Hotcam. I would think it wouldn't really sound much over stock but I could be wrong. I want a cam that has a little lope to it when I do the AFR/Superram base/Etc. swap and based on what everybody tells me here the LT4 Hotcam is the way to go. So how is the idle?

yup...
well ive never actually heard one but a while ago there was a guy talking about another guys car in the club who had the hot cam and he said that it gets lumpier every time he heard it. i think that he was exadurating a little but it should have a little lope to it. What youre looking for to see if its gonna have that lope sound is the lobe seperation, it should be 108 110 112 something like that, the smaller the number the more "lope". hope that helped.

Here is a clip of mine. (kind of distorted, but eh.......)
Clip of Hot Cam at idle (from about 10 feet away)
Clip of Hot Cam at idle with rev (mic too close - bit distorted)
LT4 Hot Cam specs:
Duration @ .050 lift: 218* Intake / 228* Exhaust, .525"/.525" valve lift with 1.6:1 rockers, 112* LSA.

Lope has little to do with LSA, it has everything to do with valve overlap. A cam with a smaller LSA will have more valve overlap than the same cam with a wider LSA. But it's the overlap that causes the lope, not the LSA.

mine sounds like matt's, it might be a little mellower if i had a cat on the exhaust. i just got the car running decent and so far i'm quite pleased with the cam. the lope's there but it's not really pronounced. it'll let you idle 600-700 easy
