Picked up a 350 TPI motor...little different than my 87 TPI
I picked up a 89 Camaro 5.7 TPI motor this weekend. I have one question about this motor compared to my 87 5.7 TPI motor. In the back of the block of the 87 motor, behind the intake, there's some sort of oil pressure switch. It's a one wire terminal sensor. On the 89 5.7 TPI this is eliminated. What does that sensor do for the 87 motor?

That sensor on the rear is the sender for the guage. In '89 (I believe) they integrated this sender into the oil pressure switch that is mounted down right above the oil filter. It went from a 2 wire to a 3 wire harness there. hth

I think every damned year GM changed it. My 85 had a different sender than the 87 that my harness came from, so I had to buy a new sender.
