What happens when this is removed?

I am wanting to remove the bottom part of the throttle body where the IAC is connected...what happens when I take the screws out? is a bunch of springs and stuff going to come flying out making it hard to put back together?

I already took the IAC out, can I clean all the gunk thats on it?

Easy enough to remove, nothing freaky will happen. Clean it up and get all the coolant scale off. When I reinstalled mine I took a cutoff wheel and cut the "nipples" off where the coolant flows through, kinda cleans up the appearance. If you do or dont cut the "nipples" off be sure to bypass it anyway, there really isnt any need to run hot coolant through the TB.

COOL! thanks for the answer...

I already had it bypassed...cutting off the nipples sounds like a good idea to clean it up around there.

I had my throttle body painted black and i stripped all the black paint off and Im going to take it to a guy and ask him if he can polish it for me, if thats do-able....or I would try and have it powdere coated but the part that the throttle cables go on has plastic and will melt...I see no way of getting that off...

ram air boxes

Wishmaster, do you have any pictures of your sealed ram air boxes and did it make any difference in how your car performed?

Be very careful indeed. I spent a good deal of time fixing one with 3 broken off screws. Its fixable (well, mine was, but I guess that kinda depends on where they break), but boy they were a pain.

When i took mine apart to clean it like three of three screws broke off. I got stainless steel screws to replace them and make sure to use anti seize compound.
Steel +aluminum threads=never seize

Half of mine broke off, as did the gasket. I couldn't find a replacement so I just repaired it. I also cut off the nipples and ground them down, and put stainless screws that I got at the hardware store in place of the old ones.
