86 camaro 350 tpi question
hi all im goin to look at a camaro at the end of the week that i found in the classifieds, the guy told me that its a 350tpi but i was under the impression that they didnt make the 350tpi untill 1987. Is they guy jerkin me around or what? its got the auto tranny not sure what kind tho. thanks
That won't be a factory installed 350 if indeed it is a 350.
Take a BRIGHT flash light and an inspection mirror with you. In the driver side of the block at the back on the "land" behind the head it will give the engine size. I'm betting you'll see it saying 5.0L
The auto trans "should" be a 700R4 but with a car that old there's no telling what has been done to it.

Check the eight letter of the Vin Number (F) is the 305 TPI engine.
No stock 350's made in 1986 unless he swapped one in. Then ask for evidence such part invoices for this car.

its most likely not stock. however, about 2 years ago on The Iroc Homepage, a guy actually had an 86 iroc with a factory L98. he had all the original paperwork and everything. it was really amazing....
